Garden 118

Welcome, to Garden 118!

Please enjoy a small glimpse of our micro farm.

My greenhouse that we completed in November 2013, I am now starting to fill it up with seedlings.
A gift basket that is filled with wonderful things from our garden and the gardens of friends. I filled the basket with some spicy dilly beans, homemade apricot jam, and Asian plum sauce that I canned. I threw in some peppers that I dried, a bar of homemade coconut oil soap and a paper cone filled with fresh thyme, rosemary, basil and french tarragon.
Dilly beans, apricot jam and Asian plum sauce ready to hand out at Christmas.
In the greenhouse cataloging my seeds. I get a majority of seeds from Sustainable Seed Company, a non GMO seed saving company located here in California. I do occasionally buy seeds from local farmers and other California farms or I just simply save what grows well and plant the following year
A bar of my homemade soap ready for Christmas.
Saving my basil seeds. I usually just mix all the basil seeds together and when ready to plant, just sprinkle the seed mixture around. I end up with a variety of basil from lettuce leaf to Thai all around the garden and the bees love it!
A bowl of fresh basil and a bit of dill peaking out.

I hope you have enjoyed this small tour of our micro farm and I hope you come back for more tips on growing veggies and herbs in California, how to cook with what you grow, feeding a child with a food intolerance and teaching healthy habits, preserving your harvest and creating a more permanent culture for sustainability.

See you next time!
